Behind-the-lens Shutter

Beautiful old brass lenses, like the Cooke Anastigmat (above) beg to be seen and admired, so it’s best not to hide them behind a shutter.  In most cases this is straightforward, as long as shutter blades won’t interfere with parts of the camera or tripod.   This depends on the design of the camera.  A tilt/swing mount positions the lens further away from the camera, which helps prevent shutter blades from getting caught.
