Mk VIII is the ultimate refinement of the Camera Eccentrica design – elegant, lightweight, compact (ish) and capable. It’s meant for lenses in the 12-15″ range, like that beautiful Cooke 14″ Aviar (above), the Cooke Series II 13″ f/4.5 and my Ross Rapid Symmetrical 15″ f/8. These equate to 45-50mm on a “full frame” camera, always my favourite focal length. The recessed front allows a little extra extension for closer focusing, and it incorporates a built-in tilt/swing mount. It was also the first Camera Eccentrica to have a focus lock. Made of 1/8″ ply with oak trim and mounts, it’s my most practical and usable camera and is currently in service at Teddington Tintype: www.teddingtontintype.co.uk
