The Chapel Camera

The Chapel Camera

This one was commissioned by renowned wet plate photographer Dave Shrimpton.  It borrows some architectural features from the house where Dave lives, but then went a bit gothic and ended up with this somewhat ecclesiastical design, so he calls it the Chapel Cam.  It has a couple of special features requested by Dave: it’s possible to mount an iPhone either above the lens, pointing to a screen at the back of the camera where the image from the main lens is projected, or onto a special hood which fits on the back of the camera.  Either way it allows Dave to shoot digital images or video of the image projected by the main camera lens.  It also has a specially beefed up mount for big Petzval lenses, and a guillotine shutter which fits any of 3 different lenses which Dave might use.
